In Need of a Little Spring...

I have just returned to New York from a much needed vacation in Mexico.
Yesterday, it was 80 degrees and amazingly sunny.
Today, I stepped off a plane and into the FREEZING COLD!
I am definitely suffering from shock, lol.
However cold it may be, it is so good to be home with my babies! And now that they have gone to bed.... it feels good to be back in my creative space doing what I love!
I have an awesome card for you today! A card to remind us that even though it may be unbearably cold outside for some of us... Spring isn't too far off!
And there is also a very funny story as to how one of the design elements came about on accident.

For this card we have a Whisper White card base and a mat of the black and white polka dot paper from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (you can get this DSP for FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50.00 purchase). Next... I made another mat out of the Glossy White cardstock and got out my daubers and ink pads! Using the daubers to apply Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay to the Glossy White Cardstock and this is the effect you get! HOWEVER.... I had a "helper" in my office with a bottle of glass cleaner, cleaning my counters. A very fine mist from the glass cleaner descended upon my freshly inked Glossy White cardstock.... leaving faint little white "specs". At first, I will admit, I panicked... not having to want to start over. But on closer inspection I realized, "I can work with this"! I spritzed a little more glass cleaner allowing just a mist to fall on the card front. Then, I dribbled a few drops of water off my fingertips onto it for a few larger "specs/dots". It came out sooooooo AWESOME!!
And we can't forget the finishing touches!!
The Butterfly Gala Stamp Set gave us the beautiful butterflies which are colored in with coordinating Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay Stamping' Write Markers.
And for the "miss you friend" sentiment and heart..... drumroll please.... The Well Said Bundle. If you do not have this bundle, I would strongly recommend purchasing it. It is very versatile for so many occasions and has stamps and coordinating dies. The sentiment on this card is made entirely of the Well Written Framelits Dies.

I feel as though I have rambled on in this post. Mainly because I am so excited about the accidental background element on this card. But also because I have missed a few posts and am so excited to be back in full swing!

Santa's Workshop Gift Tags!

Who doesn't love cute homemade tags with their holiday gifts?!
These 3x3" tags were so simple to throw together. Using the Suites from the catalog, you have all the coordinating items you need for your projects! These tags were created using the Santa's Workshop Suite in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus, as well as the elves, are not stamped images... they come from the Santa's Workshop Designer Series Paper! If you look closely at Mrs. Claus' apron and Mr. Claus' hat, you will see that they are flocked!! This adds just the right amount of "something extra". The most awesome thing about this Suite of products.... The dies match the patterned paper! Not kidding! Both Mr. and Mrs. Claus were cut out of the Santa's Workshop Designer Series Paper using the coordinating Santa's Signpost Famelits Dies! No fussy-cutting necessary!

I hope you've enjoyed these cute tags and that they have inspired you to create!
Thank you for visiting!

Mistletoe Kisses for the Holidays

Mistletoe is a very well-known holiday symbol and tradition. However, not many know it's origins or how it came to be a symbol throughout the holiday season. This little herbs history dates back thousands of years! Here are a few fun facts .......

* In ancient Rome, the mistletoe was hung during the celebrations of the Sturnalia Festival which celebrated the god of agriculture, Saturn.

* The mistletoe was sacred to the Celtic tribes of the Druids, who associated it with protection,
health, love and fertility.

* Mistletoe was used by the Norse god Loki to craft the arrow used to kill Balder. In the end of this story, Mistletoe becomes a symbol of love.

* Through the Middle Ages, Mistletoe carried on as a symbol of vitality and fertility and carried into the 18th century being incorporated into the holiday season.

And a tradition was born!
It became custom to kiss when standing under the mistletoe. You are to pluck a berry from the herb with each kiss until there are no more berries to be had. And so it goes that there is no more smooching once the berries are all gone!

Here is a card created using the Mistletoe Season stamp set from the annual catalog along with the plaid patterned paper from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. I’ve also included a list of products used to create this gorgeous card!

A Joyful Christmas

This was soooo much fun!
I want to make a million of these!

This card may look as though it was a lot of work to create, but it was surprisingly quick and easier than I originally thought it would be. And it uses very little in the way of supplies as well. The Granny Apple and Garden Greens look smashing together! And, of course, I had to use my new favorite color Poppy Parade. I am drawn to that color every time I sit down to create, there is just something about it's brightness and what it adds to a creation. The wreath was made using only cardstock and the Sprig Punch! I then used the All-Purpose Glue to adhere them to the back of the circle (adhering the Granny Apple first and then layering the Garden Green behind those). Mr. and Mrs. Clause were colored with our Stampin' Write Markers... but look close and you will see that Mrs. Clause's hair as well as both skin tones were done with Stampin' Blends!!!

Below is a list of supplies used for this card.
Thanks for stoping by!
